Eighth Week: Oct. 27th -Oct. 31st

EIGHTH GRADE:
This week in Eighth grade we are going to be finishing up chapter 4B along with studying dia de los muertos/Day of the dead which is on November 1st and 2nd. We will be having a test on Tuesday the 28th on chapter 4B. On Wednesday we will be in the kitchen making sugar skulls and on Thursday and Friday we will decorate and celebrate Dia de los muertos. Friday the 31st is the end of the quarter and Halloween and crazy hair day. Students should not wear costumes on Friday. Day of the dead is a very popular holiday in Mexico and it is important for students to understand the festive holiday.

SIXTH GRADE:
In sixth grade we are still finishing up Google Earth presentations. We have about 10 more presentations to go in each class which I am hoping to finish on Monday and Tuesday but some classes will probably run into Wednesday and Thursday. We will be studying and celebrating Dia de los muertos on either Wednesday and Thursday of this week of Monday and Tuesday of the following week. Aside from technical difficulties the Google Earth presentations have been influential and helpful in showing students the world around us. Also the end of the 1st quarter is on Friday October 31st so any students that need to make up quizzes/work need to do so before Thursday the 30th.

SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL:
We are continuing to study ¿Como eres? and learning about our personalities and what we are like. Are we lazy, smart, shy, etc. We will be having an exam on this chapter probably on Tuesday of this week. We will also be studying Dia de los muertos and we will be celebrating probably on Friday October 31st. I would like to make Mexican sugar skulls on Wednesday and then decorate them on Thursday into Friday. I feel that it is important to understand and appreciate this festive and popular Mexican Holiday and we also need a break from the regular curriculum.
