In eighth grade we have been working on chapter 4B through total physical response storytelling where we make up actions for new vocabulary and then associate them with pictures and then can eventually create stories. The chapter is about what you do in your free time and focusses on the verb, Jugar: to play. All of the new material in this chapter has been introduced and we will be reviewing this week and having a test on Friday or possibly earlier next week.
SIXTH GRADE:
In sixth grade we are working on a very cool google earth project where each student has a country to research and then they will present their country this week. They are supposed to introduce themselves and say where they are from in Spanish and the rest of the presentation is in English explaining where in the world their country is and what the surrounding countries are, what the weather is like and one to two places of interest along with the capital. The students have tacked locations in their country so they can show their classmates the interesting information and pictures, etc. that they have found. The presentations will be about 5 minutes long.
SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL:
We just finished a chapter on what do you like to do? Including over 20 new verbs. This was a great unit because we could do a lot of acting and students caught on to the new vocabulary quickly.
We are starting a new chapter including descriptions of your personality and what you are like. Are you shy? Are you funny? Students will be able to ask what you are like or what he or she is like and explain someone's personality. We will also have a brief introduction to conjugating verbs in the present tense.
