I will only be at the Middle School on Tuesday night for conferences!
EIGHTH GRADE: The eighth grade has finished creating and decorating their sugar skulls in our celebration of Dia de los muertos or Day of the dead. Tuesday the 3rd we will review for our chapter test on chapter 4A including question words, places around town, and the verb IR: to go. The test will be Wednesday the 4th and then we will begin with the next chapter 4B which continues on with sports, the verb jugar: to play, and emotions. The homework on Tuesday will be to study and there will be homework on the new chapter on Wednesday. No homework on Thursday for the long weekend.
SIXTH GRADE: The sixth graders had a day of celebration for the day of the dead and they created either a skull mask or a skeleton puppet. Tuesday and Wednesday the 3rd and 4th I will be introducing classroom items and revisiting greetings. There will be homework in their workbooks on Tuesday/Wednesday practicing classroom items and numbers on page 6.
I will be out next week the 9th to the 13th. The eighth graders will continue to work with the new chapter and they will be watching a video at the end of the week called Under the Same Moon about immigration. The sixth graders will be doing a country project using Google earth on the computers.

EIGHTH GRADE: Eighth graders will be creating review games on Monday and Tuesday. They have been broken into groups of 4 or 5 and they are working together to create a review game to go over the verb IR, question words, and other information from chapter 4A. On Friday of this week we will be creating sugar skulls to celebrate day of the dead. Then next Monday, Nov. 2nd we will decorate the skulls.
SIXTH GRADE: The sixth graders are revisiting the Spanish alphabet and we will spend the early part of the week working on this. We will probably not have homework this week. Later in the week we will be doing a small art project constructing puppets and masks to celebrate the day of the dead.

EIGHTH GRADE: We will be creating picture food dictionaries on Monday. We will find images of the new food items that we have learned and the organizing them into the correct food groups like meats, dairy, fruit, etc. Then we will review on Tuesday and have a quick clicker quiz on Wednesday on the verb ser and adjective agreement. Then review for the rest of the week and have a chapter test on Friday the 9th. Then after the long weekend we can start a new chapter!

EIGHTH GRADE: Eighth graders are finally moving onto new material. They had a quiz today (Monday) and Tuesday we will begin to learn more about foods and how to maintain your health. There will be homework Tuesday through Thursday night on plurals of adjectives, the verb ser, and maintaining your health. If any student wants to retake a quiz or test and they got below 79% they can ask me.

EIGHTH GRADE: Eighth graders will have a quiz on Tuesday the 22nd on the conjugations of regular AR, ER and IR verbs. It will be 25 questions multiple choice. They will be given a subject and a verb and they will need to select the correct verb conjugation. We will also be reviewing food on Tuesday and then we will be moving on to Chapter 3B which will be new material. They will have homework Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. Monday night's homework is to study.

The quiz will be on numbers 1-25, body parts, verb meanings, adjectives, and prepositions. We will also review food items after the quiz. Beginning next week we will begin with new material from chapter 3B while continuing to incorporate review material such as calender items, time, etc.

EIGHTH GRADE: The eighth graders have just finished up chapter 7B and had a test. We are now in the middle of a country project. They are working in groups if 2 or 3 and researching a spanish speaking country that they selected. They are creating a powerpoint presentation, a google earth part of the presentation and a product; either food or dance or a model, etc. We will start presenting these late this week and into next week.
SIXTH GRADE: The sixth graders are working on skits. They are working in groups of 2-4 and creating their own scripts and actions. They are using past vocabulary to describe a problem with their schedules in school and then new vocabulary to describe an animal that gets free in the classroom and where it is using vocabulary such as above, under, to the side of, etc. We will start to preform these next week.

EIGHTH GRADE:
Eighth graders will be finishing up chapter 7B this week continuing to study preterite (past tense) and direct object pronouns and more vocab about shopping. They will be working on skits early in the week and continuing to review for a test on Tuesday may 5th of the following week?
Once we wrap up this chapter we will be starting a Cultural production project where they work in pairs and study a country and create a presentation.
SIXTH GRADE:
Sixth graders are starting a new chapter on locations and prepositions. We will be continuing to introduce this material and there will be a homework assignment on monday/tuesday night.

April 20th-25th
EIGHTH GRADE
Eighth grade will be starting a new and big chapter involving the past tense. They will be learning and practicing the use of the preterite tense. There are several irregular verbs we will be studying also. There will also be new vocabulary about shopping and clothing. We will have homework almost everyday this week to practice this new information.
SIXTH GRADE:
Sixth graders have a test early this week on either Monday or Tuesday depending on when they have class. The test is on AR verbs and how to conjugate them for each subject. They should have memorized the meanings of all of the subject pronouns and memorized the verb endings - o, as, a, amos, an.
We will then be moving on to the next chapter later in the week and we will have homework probably on Monday/Tuesday night.

Week # 27: Mar 23-27
EIGHTH GRADE:
The eighth graders are working on a chapter about shopping, clothes, and prices. The grammar of this chapter is stem-changing verbs such as Querer, Preferir, Pensar so we will be practicing with those verbs. Students have just completed a collage/drawing assignment creating before and after outfits and labeling them. This week before spring break we will be creating Game shows. Students can choose any game show to mock and create questions from this chapter.
SIXTH GRADE:
Sixth graders have been creating their own games and incorporating practice of AR verb conjugations. We will not have any homework this week because of the games but they will be graded on the game they create and how well it is executed. Some game ideas are freeze tag, twister, hopscotch, relay races, etc.

In Eighth grade we will be preforming our Cinderella skits early next week. All students have completed an exam to see if they are ready to enter into Spanish II next year at the high school. Most students did very well. We will be finishing chapter 6B on the house and chores and taking a test early on in the following week.

Week # 24: Feb 23rd-27th
EIGHTH GRADE:
In eighth grade we are working on Cinderella skits which practice the present progressive and commands. We will be starting to preform these skits later in the week. We will also be having an assessment on Thursday the 26th which will help me determine which students should enter into Spanish II at the high school next year. The test will not be included as a grade in class but simply to see where students are at. Each student has several review packets and we will be doing some review in class on Wednesday also.
SIXTH GRADE:
In sixth grade we are just starting a new chapter about school classes and regular -ar verbs so we will be learning how to conjugate which will help to start forming more complex sentences.

EIGHTH GRADE: In eighth grade we have just started a new chapter on rooms in the house, chores, commands and the present progressive. We will be continuing to introduce new material this week along with review and by the end of the week we may be ready to start our Cinderella Skits which will practice commands and new vocabulary. There will be homework almost every night this week and possibly a quick quiz on chores.

Week # 20: Jan 26th - Jan 30th
AND WE'RE BACK!
EIGHTH GRADE:
We are in the middle of a chapter including colors, bedroom items, and stem changing verbs. We will continue with this chapter through next week. We have just starting a project which is to design your ideal bedroom and label it. We will then present these to the class. We will quickly move through this chapter and into 6B which includes more of the household items and the present progressive.
SIXTH GRADE: We are in the middle of a fun chapter about personalities. Are you brave, intelligent, funny, lazy, etc.? This chapter will last for the next few weeks. This chapter also introduces the verb Ser: to be. So students will be able to say "I am" "You are" "He/She is" "We are"...
SUMMIT: We are in the middle of a chapter about food and we are doing a comic life describing foods we like and don't like.
