Fourth week: Sept. 29th - Oct. 3rd

EIGHTH GRADE: 
This week the eighth graders are still working on the verb "IR" to go along with interrogative words or question words. We will be doing some work on the computers and then having an assessment, probably a short test at the end of the week on chapter 4A in the text book. 


SIXTH GRADE: 
Sixth graders will continue to work on the body parts. They have all contructed bodies out of magazine cutouts and they will present their creations to the class. We will work on the computers on www.quia.com to practice the body parts. Later in the week we will be learning about the different objects in the classroom. 


SUMMIT: 
Monday Sept 29th we will be having a test on the chapter "para empezar" and then move onto chapter 1 including the verb Gustar and what you like to do.

Third Week: Sept. 22nd - 26th

Thank you to all the parents who made it to back to school night! It was great to meet you.

EIGHTH GRADE:
This past week we successfully completed our first test and we have now moved on to new material. We reviewed the calendar including;
days of the week; lunes, martes, miercoles, jueves, viernes, sabado, domingo
the months; enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre
the date/fecha; hoy es el 19 de septiembre, 2008
The verb "IR", to go, was also introduced along with places around town such as the movies, the store, the school, etc.
This coming week we will have an activity using google earth which will probably take up 2 classes. We will be working on finishing chapter 4A in the textbooks which includes what we like to do and where we like to go.
There will be a short quiz later in the week on the verb "IR" and places around town and the calendar.
HOMEWORK: due Tuesday 9.23 - "IR" worksheet

SIXTH GRADE

In Sixth grade we are still working on time, ¿Que hora es? and the quiz we were supposed to have this week will be next week. On the Monday and Tuesday classes we will have a quiz on time, numbers and the alphabet. We will spend the first part of class reviewing for the quiz, take the quiz and then move onto body parts. We will be creating bodies and labeling them and probably playing some pictionary.

HOMEWORK: This weekend it is really important to study the alphabet, the numbers and telling time for the quiz.

QUIZ SCORES: For students who did not do well on the quiz #1, meaning an 80 or lower, will be be given the opportunity to do extra practice outside of class to raise their scores.


SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL
In our Spanish I 7th period class at Summit High school we are just finishing up the first chapter of the text book called "Para empezar". This chapter includes; greetings and goodbyes, how to tell time, numbers, body parts, classroom items, the date, the calendar, weather, and seasons. This coming week, we will be reviewing all of the above information and having a test later in the week.

Third Week Sept. 15th- 19th

SIXTH GRADE:
 
Last week we did some fun partner activities practicing the alphabet, numbers and basic introductions. We also played lots of bingo with the alphabet and numbers. 
This coming week we will be starting to tell time and we will probably have a short quiz on all that we have covered so far this year. The quiz with most likely be on Wednesday and Thursday depending on which day you have Spanish. 
Good things to study are the alphabet sheets and how to sound out the letters, numbers 1-25, and how to greet someone and ask their name and where they're from. 


EIGHTH GRADE: 

In Spanish class for eighth graders during the first two weeks of school, we have been reviewing information that was learned in 7th grade Spanish. We have been preparing for a test which will be this week on Tuesday, September 16th. The information that the test will cover includes; 
Basic greetings, numbers, verbs- meaning and conjugation, parts of the body, the time, prepositional location, classroom items, class schedules, subject pronouns, and food vocabulary. 
The study guide was handed out on Thursday, September 11th. 

After the test we will start with information on the calendar like days of the week, months, etc. We will also start studying the verb IR - to go. 

Homework: the homework until Tuesday will  be ESTUDIAR
