Thank you to all the parents who made it to back to school night! It was great to meet you.
This past week we successfully completed our first test and we have now moved on to new material. We reviewed the calendar including;
days of the week; lunes, martes, miercoles, jueves, viernes, sabado, domingo
the months; enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre
the date/fecha; hoy es el 19 de septiembre, 2008
The verb "IR", to go, was also introduced along with places around town such as the movies, the store, the school, etc.
This coming week we will have an activity using google earth which will probably take up 2 classes. We will be working on finishing chapter 4A in the textbooks which includes what we like to do and where we like to go.
There will be a short quiz later in the week on the verb "IR" and places around town and the calendar.
HOMEWORK: due Tuesday 9.23 - "IR" worksheet
SIXTH GRADE
In Sixth grade we are still working on time, ¿Que hora es? and the quiz we were supposed to have this week will be next week. On the Monday and Tuesday classes we will have a quiz on time, numbers and the alphabet. We will spend the first part of class reviewing for the quiz, take the quiz and then move onto body parts. We will be creating bodies and labeling them and probably playing some pictionary.
HOMEWORK: This weekend it is really important to study the alphabet, the numbers and telling time for the quiz.
QUIZ SCORES: For students who did not do well on the quiz #1, meaning an 80 or lower, will be be given the opportunity to do extra practice outside of class to raise their scores.
SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL
In our Spanish I 7th period class at Summit High school we are just finishing up the first chapter of the text book called "Para empezar". This chapter includes; greetings and goodbyes, how to tell time, numbers, body parts, classroom items, the date, the calendar, weather, and seasons. This coming week, we will be reviewing all of the above information and having a test later in the week.
